As a consequence, he becomes radioactive and must absent himself temporarily, opening the way for clever crooks to seize Lois as hostage, stage an air robbery and terrify mankind. |

He must act fast to save the Earth from floods and earthquakes caused by the asteroid's proximity. His success brings a thrilling finale. |
Episode 39 - Season 2, Episode 13: The Machine that Could Plot Crimes"Mr. Kelso," an intricate mechanical brain, is used by crooks to plot crimes so perfect, so complete, that the police--and even Superman--are baffled in the drama "The Machine That Could Plot Crimes." Then the mechanical marvel threatens to reveal that Clark Kent and Superman are identical persons. There's a thrilling climax as Superman in his turn uses the machine to plot the destruction of the evil doers. |

Episode 41 - Season 2, Episode 15: My Friend SupermanWhen Tony, who owns the diner near the Daily Planet, is beset by protection racketeers, he boasts a friendship for the great Superman on very slight grounds. The fib sets off a strange series of events dramatized in "My Friend, Superman." An under the counter recording device, a noisy juke box and a slam bang free for all in Tony's place enliven the half hour film. |
Episode 42 - Season 2, Episode 16: The Clown Who CriedRollo, the beloved circus clown, is impersonated by his former partner, Crackers, now turned thief. Crackers steals the proceeds of a charity benefit to start a fast moving Superman TV program, "The Clown Who Cried." After the deception, Clark Kent is induced to don his Superman gear to unravel the tangled affair and restore the funds. A highlight of the drama is a roof top scene with police pursuing both the genuine and the phony Rollo. |
Episode 43 - Season 2, Episode 17: The Boy Who Hated SupermanIn "The Boy Who Hated Superman," sixteen year old Frankie hopes to aid his gangster uncle who is now in jail by spying on Clark Kent and Jimmy Olsen. Instead, he learns through Jimmy's loyal companionship and Clark Kent's kindness that a boy's best and truest friends are always persons of honor and trust. Making the trip with Twiddle are Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Editor Perry White and an important hoodlum named Turk. Arriving in a strange prehistoric land and befriended by cave dwellers, the Professor makes the awful discovery that he is unable to reverse the time machine's mechanism to return the group back to the 20th century. Even Clark Kent, who is compelled to transform himself to Superman to keep the gangster in line, is baffled. With all his great powers, Superman finds he is unable to crash the time barrier and aid his stranded companions. |
Episode 54 - Season 3, Episode 2: The Talking CluePolice Inspector Henderson's son, Ray, has an unusual hobby: collecting all sorts of noises and sounds on his tape recording machine. Ray's hobby sets off an exciting sequence of events in "The Talking Clue." By accident young Ray's recorder picks up the sounds of Inspector Henderson's office safe being opened and two crooks, Muscles McGurk and Claude James, are able to use this sound recording to their advantage. The vault subsequently yields data which enable McGurk and James to disconnect burglar alarms and commit robberies undetected. When Ray becomes their unwitting dupe and accessory, it appears he has double crossed his father and sold out to the underworld. However, through clever use of the sound machine and some quick thinking by Clark Kent, Superman is able to locate the hideout and foil McGurk's scheme. |
Episode 55 - Season 3, Episode 3: The Lucky Cat"The Lucky Cat" involves "the man of steel" in an exciting drama which calls into play all his remarkable abilities: X ray vision, swift flight, and superhuman strength and agility. The doings of the Anti Superstition Society and the strange behavior of Mr. Botts, owner of an eerie, isolated, old house in which the club meets, attract the attention of Daily Planet reporters, who smell a story. When it becomes apparent that an attempt is being made to injure certain members of the Society who flaunt their con-tempt for commonly held superstitions, suspicion points to Mr. Botts. Superman saves members from injury when the house's underpinnings are sawed through and rescues Charlie King when his munitions factory is set afire. Although the police are stumped and inclined to blame Mr. Botts, Superman ingeniously traps Charlie King into confessing his guilt. The cat helps Superman prove his case. |
Episode 56 - Season 3, Episode 4: Superman WeekWhile everyone is making extensive plans to celebrate "Superman Week" it is discovered, at the climax of the thrilling half hour drama, that Sy Horton's mob has learned the secret of Kryptonite, the only element in the entire Universe that can deprive Superman of his powers. Jimmy Olsen, the youthful reporter on the Daily Planet, let the secret slip out while under the influence of a truth drug forced upon him by Horton and Horton's crooked compan-ion, Matthew Tips. Worse, he also revealed the location of some of the metal, encased in lead pipe at the bottom of the bay. Luckily, Clark Kent, who is in reality Superman disguised as a mild mannered Daily Planet reporter, gets wind of Jimmy's alarm-ing revelation and prepares to confound the gangsters. |
Episode 57 - Season 3, Episode 5: Great Caesar's GhostIt becomes apparent that Editor Perry White of the Metropolis Daily Planet is suffering from confusion and hallucinations on the eve of an important gangster trial in which he is the prosecution's key witness. This poses a problem that Superman is called on to settle in "Great Caesar's Ghost." Superman is played by George Reeves and Editor White by John Hamilton. Also seen are Noel Neill as Lois Lane, Jack Larson as Jimmy Olsen and Robert Shayne as Police Inspector Henderson. The editor's office staff attributes White's strange behavior to overwork until he begins to hear unearthly voices. |
