Episode 1 - The One After Joey and Rachel KissStill in Barbados after Ross' keynote address, the friends cope with a variety of dilemmas. Ross has kissed his colleague Charlie Wheeler, although she is still officially dating Joey. Joey and Rachel have kissed as well, but they agonize over how to tell Ross. Phoebe's former boyfriend, Mike, has followed Phoebe to the island and proposed marriage to her, despite his being in a relationship with someone else. And Monica has developed really big hair, due to the humidity. Chandler's problem is that he can barely restrain himself from making fun of his wife. Phoebe, Monica and Chandler learn about all the romantic drama by listening through the thin hotel room walls to hear Joey and Rachel's amorous conversation on one side and Ross and Charlie's on the other. Feeling as if he is betraying Joey, Ross seeks him out to confess that he wants to date Charlie. |
Episode 2 - The One Where Ross Is FineRachel, Joey and Charlie (recurring guest star Aisha Tyler) attend an uncomfortable dinner party at Ross' apartment, but they fear for his state of mind when Ross uncharacteristically overindulges in wine, song and laughter. Meanwhile, Chandler commits an unpardonable act when he and Monica visit a couple who have adopted a cute boy. And former surrogate mother Phoebe is visited by her brother, Frank Jr. (recurring guest star Giovanni Ribisi - "Saving Private Ryan"), who is desperate because he can no longer cope with his precocious triplets. |
Episode 3 - The One With Ross's TanSuave Joey is as confident as usual while preparing to make love with Rachel for the first time. But he soon becomes uncharacteristically clumsy, and Rachel feels uneasy as well. They wonder how Chandler and Monica transitioned from friends to lovers so easily. Meanwhile, Monica and Phoebe's annoying friend Amanda (Jennifer Coolidge - "Best In Show") visits, causing a rift between the women. And Ross goes to a spray-on tanning salon but fails to follow the simple directions properly. |
Episode 4 - The One With the CakeOn Emma's first birthday, Rachel convinces Monica and Chandler to delay their long-anticipated trip to Vermont to stay for the party. But complications ensue when the infant falls asleep--and a racy, adult birthday cake arrives. Meanwhile, when Ross dashes out to help Rachel, he leaves Joey in charge of keeping everybody locked in the apartment until they return with the right cake. |
Episode 5 - The One Where Rachel's Sister BabysitsRachel feels like her annoying, self-indulgent younger sister, Amy (recurring guest star Christina Applegate, who won an Emmy Award for her previous "Friends" guest appearance), is finally on the verge of making a major change in her attitude. In order to help Amy become a more responsible person, Rachel overrides Ross' strong protests and allows Amy to baby-sit Emma. She soon regrets that decision. Meanwhile, Phoebe unknowingly thwarts Mike's (recurring guest star Paul Rudd) "anniversary" surprise for her. Also, Monica and Chandler become concerned when Joey tries to use big words in a recommendation letter on their behalf to a child adoption agency. |
Episode 6 - The One With Ross's GrantOscar nominee Greg Kinnear - "As Good As It Gets," "Talk Soup"), for an esteemed paleontology grant. Unfortunately, Hobart also happens to be Charlie's (recurring guest star Aisha Tyler - "Talk Soup") obsessed ex-boyfriend. Hobart offers the grant to Ross on the condition that he break up with Charlie. Meanwhile, Phoebe tries to give a hideous painting she created to an extremely reluctant Monica and Rachel. Also, Joey is offended when Chandler lies about viewing Joey's bizarre audition tape reel. |
Episode 7 - The One With the Home StudyMonica and Chandler nervously prepare for a visit from an adoption worker, Laura (Maria Pitillo), who will decide if they would be suitable parents. Unfortunately, Laura horrifies the uptight couple when she confesses that she was once romanced by a cad named Joey, who lives in the same building and never returned her calls. Meanwhile, Phoebe and Mike (recurring guest star Paul Rudd) opt to have a small wedding and donate the extra money to a children's charity--only to demand it all back later. And Ross tries to help Rachel overcome her irrational fear of swing sets so baby Emma can enjoy herself at the playground. |
Episode 8 - The One With the Late ThanksgivingMonica prepares a fabulous Thanksgiving feast for the gang, but she becomes furious when everyone arrives late to the gathering. Ross and Joey tried to go to a hockey game first, and Phoebe and Rachel secretly took Emma to a baby beauty contest. Bigger problems ensue when Monica refuses to let the famished guests into her and Chandler's apartment. |
Episode 9 - The One With the Birth MotherNervous and excited, Monica and Chandler travel to Texas to meet a young pregnant woman, Erica Simmons (recurring guest star Anna Faris - "Scary Movie" films), who is considering allowing them to adopt her child when it's born. Monica and Chandler like Erica, and she likes them. The only problem is that, due to a mix-up at the adoption agency, Erica thinks Monica is a reverend and Chandler is a doctor--and the eager couple hesitates to correct her. Meanwhile, Joey dates Phoebe's friend but annoys her with his territorial eating habits. And after succumbing to a sexy and persuasive salesgirl, Ross ends up in a unique new wardrobe. Series star David Schwimmer directed the episode. |
Episode 10 - The One Where Chandler Gets CaughtWhen Phoebe and Rachel see Chandler getting into a car with a pretty woman during work hours, they follow him to the suburbs and witness him going inside a large house with the woman. Fearing that Chandler is cheating on Monica, they inform her--and learn that the woman is a real estate agent. The pair has been secretly shopping for houses and struggling with how to tell their best friends that they are leaving the City. In an emotional montage, clips from previous episodes highlight many of the experiences the friends have shared in Monica and Chandler's apartment. |
Episode 11 - The One Where the Stripper CriesJoey appears as a celebrity contestant on "The $100,000 Pyramid," with its actual host, Donny Osmond (himself), but Joey's dubious IQ costs his partner the prize money. Meanwhile, Monica and Rachel hire an ungainly stripper, Roy (Danny DeVito - "Taxi"), without seeing him first, for Phoebe's bachelorette party. Also, Chandler and Ross attend a college reunion and meet an attractive woman they both promised not to date during school. |
Episode 12 - The One With Phoebe's WeddingIn a special milestone episode, Phoebe's wedding planner, Monica, makes everyone around her crazy--until Phoebe fires her. Phoebe's big day becomes disastrous as deliveries go awry and a blizzard forces the plans to change. Meanwhile, as a substitute for Phoebe's incarcerated father in the ceremony, Joey takes his role much too seriously. Also, Chandler and Ross lobby Rachel to choose one of them as a last-minute replacement for a groomsman in what promises to be a most unorthodox wedding procession. |
Episode 13 - The One Where Joey Speaks FrenchMonica and Chandler show Erica (recurring guest star Anna Faris - "Scary Movie 3"), who is the mother of the unborn baby they want to adopt, the sights of New York, and they also learn more facts about her--such as the baby's biological father might be a convict who killed his father with a shovel. Meanwhile, Ross and Rachel grow closer after her sarcastic father, Dr. Green (recurring guest star Ron Leibman - "Norma Rae"), suffers a heart attack. And Joey implores Francophile Phoebe to teach him French before an important audition, but she quickly becomes exasperated with the gibberish coming out of Joey's mouth. |
Episode 14 - The One With Princess ConsuelaRachel nearly gags on her meal when she secretly meets at a restaurant for a job interview and sits right next to the table where her current boss is dining. Phoebe considers legally changing her married name to something more exotic. Meanwhile, Joey feels abandoned when Monica and Chandler try to buy a house, but Joey finds solace with the sellers' precocious 8-year-old daughter, Mackenzie (Dakota Fanning - "The Cat In the Hat"). |
Episode 15 - The One Where Estelle DiesWhen Rachel makes a startling announcement, Ross secretly schemes to get her former job back for her. Meanwhile, Joey is so flustered by all of the upheaval in his friends' lives that Phoebe prevents him from learning about the sudden death of his agent. And Monica and Chandler check out the house for sale next door to their new home--and make a stunning discovery. |
Episode 16 - The One With Rachel's Going Away PartyAs Rachel prepares to leave for Paris, the gang hosts a farewell party for her. Instead of facing them all together, she takes each person aside to offer a private good-bye. But one friend is offended when he is excluded. Meanwhile, Monica barks out strict orders as she precisely packs for her new life in the suburbs with Chandler, and they keep a watchful eye on the extremely pregnant mother, Erica (recurring guest star Anna Faris), of their future adopted child. Also, while cleaning the apartment, Chandler finds a surprising item that belonged to one of the previous occupants of his and Monica's guest room. |
Episode 17 - The Last One, Pt. 1 and Pt. 2Filled with humor and bittersweet emotion, the series finale of "Friends" finds Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey, Chandler and Ross embarking on the next chapters in their lives. The six of them have been there for one another through all the ups and downs of becoming adults. Now it's their last day together, and it's one of momentous events and last-minute surprises. Even as the friends make major decisions about their futures, they share a bond that will last forever--no matter where their paths lead. |
