Season 3 Episode Guide

Episode 1 - Roller Disco (Part One)

When Jon and Ponch help organize a "Skate with the Stars" roller-skating fundraiser, they encounter pickpockets. Inviting celebrities to the benefit, the duo winds up supervising a rock star (Leif Garrett) and his manager.

Episode 2 - Roller Disco (Part Two)

The pickpocket skaters continue to elude Jon and Ponch. Meanwhile, Jon lets the troubled rock star (Leif Garrett) stay at his apartment.

Episode 3 - Valley Go Home

Ponch and Jon try to intervene between the surfers and "valley" kids before things get out of hand and someone gets seriously hurt. Later, they try to apprehend the person behind a string of tape deck thefts.

Episode 4 - High Octane

Jon and Ponch track down a gasoline theft ring that's responsible for injuring Sgt. Joe Getraer. During his off-duty hours, Ponch referees a department-sponsored roller hockey game.

Episode 5 - Death Watch

Officer Steve Wedemeyer is killed in an auto accident, and Jon and Ponch realize the driver responsible was doing some fancy maneuvering to cause the death.

Episode 6 - Counterfeit

Ponch discovers counterfeit money and the CHP suspect a clergyman is behind it. Later, Ponch's blind date Heather proves to be more than he bargained for - a real match for the policeman. Billy Barty ("Legend," "Willow") guest stars.

Episode 7 - Return of the Supercycle

The Phantom returns - and now he's stealing jewelry. When Ponch fails to nab the thief, Jon enlists the help of the team's "supercycle" machine to pursue the Phantom.

Episode 8 - Hot Wheels

With Ponch hospitalized, Jon and ex-partner Bill Clayton pursue criminal firemen who find more time for robbing than firefighting.

Episode 9 - Drive, Lady, Drive

Ponch, Jon and a few other officers aid the Palma Vista Police Department. While there, they help an orphaned ten-year-old girl find a new home. Meanwhile, Ponch falls for Candi, a race car driver in this ninety-minute special.

Episode 10 - The Watch Commander

Jon and Ponch pursue a tractor-driving gang who hitch up a loaded trailer and make off with their loot. Meanwhile, a new lieutenant (Granville Van Dusen) alienates the entire crew with his dictatorial style of leadership.

Episode 11 - Destruction Derby

Jon and Ponch infiltrate the Riverside Raceway scene to crack a stolen auto parts ring. Car parts lead to cocaine, and the duo enter a demolition derby to close in on the drug dealers.

Episode 12 - Second Chance

Jewel thieves in Marina Del Rey prove to be allusive for Ponch and Jon, who find the canals of Venice and roller-skater-ridden streets tough terrain for the chase.

Episode 13 - Wheeling

A trio of wheelchair-bound drivers create problems for Jon and Ponch both in and out of their vehicles. Meanwhile, the father of a hit-and-run victim is determined to catch the driver responsible - with or without the help of the CHP.

Episode 14 - Christmas Watch

The Christmas season doesn't mean any less work for Jon and Ponch. At the community church, thieves run off with a fifteenth-century bell that means a great deal to the local kids.

Episode 15 - Jailbirds

In order to infiltrate a stolen car racket, Jon becomes a jailbird. Ponch joins his fellow officer in the cell, and in their new roles they're able to crack the car caper in due time.

Episode 16 - E.M.T.

Jon and Ponch volunteer for the Emergency Medical Technician training program. The duo already starts off on the wrong foot when the instructor recognizes the two as the policemen who gave him a speeding ticket. Meanwhile, two little boys don't recognize the dangers of an unstable cave that they've built into an embankment.

Episode 17 - Kidnap

Two criminals escape from custody and steal a Rolls-Royce - complete with two clever children in the back seat.

Episode 18 - Off Road

Jon and Ponch compete in an off-road race. Also in the race are two men looking for syndicate gold lost three months before when the plane one was piloting crashed near the racing site.

Episode 19 - Tow Truck Lady

When a tow-truck driver is suspected of stealing cars to make ends meet, Jon and Ponch enlist the help of the driver's daughter.

Episode 20 - The Strippers

A gang of "strippers" is on the loose: a band of men who go around stripping cars of various parts.Jon and Ponch are baffled as the parts being stolen are not showing up in the usual places.

Episode 21 - Thrill Show

A punk rock group, "The Bus Boys," is stealing from the patrons of tourist buses to get money for a demo record. Meanwhile, Bonnie plans to leave the force and join a stunt show that's in town.

Episode 22 - Nightingale

The CHP investigates reports of a woman doctor who disappears after treating accident victims. Dana Plato guest stars.

Episode 23 - Dynamite Alley

Bonnie, suffering from driver's fatigue, believes that she was forced off the road by a truck after crashing on a desert road. Her radio buddy is the only key to revealing what really happened.
