Episode 1 - Hustle & MotivateAfter winning the state championship, Spencer James (Daniel Ezra) faces a difficult decision that could transform his reputation. Billy (Taye Diggs) realizes he needs to make some major changes to get his life back on track, while Grace (Karimah Westbrook) and Corey (Chad L. Episode 2 - Speak Ya CloutWith Spencer (Daniel Ezra) torn about where to play football, he is taken aback to learn who his dad has added to the team. Jordan (Michael Evans Behling) faces repercussions for not taking his upcoming football game seriously. Layla (Greta Onieogou) gets mad at Spencer after Olivia (Samantha Logan) let it slip about his football plans. Meanwhile, Coop (Bre-Z) has found her voice again through music, which may bridge the gap between her and her mom. Taye Diggs, Cody Christian, Monet Mazur and Jalyn Hall also star. |
Episode 3 - Never No MoreSpencer (Daniel Ezra) gives his Dad (guest star Chad Coleman) an ultimatum about his new player, but after talking to Jordan (Michael Evans Behling), Spencer has a better understanding of what is really bothering him. After Coop (Bre-Z) shows off her rapping skills at school, she becomes more confident in her ability and decides to enter a freestyle battle. Olivia (Samantha Logan) reluctantly joins the So Cal Muse group with Laura’s (Monet Mazur) encouragement, but Olivia learns that this might help create her own identity. Meanwhile, Layla (Greta Onieogou) is still not acting like herself and Spencer grows concerned after what he sees. Cody Christian and Jalyn Hall also star. |
Episode 4 - They Reminisce Over YouWhen Spencer (Daniel Ezra) tries to talk to Layla (Greta Onieogou) about what is going on, things don’t work out quite as he hoped. It’s Billy (Taye Diggs), Corey (guest star Chad Coleman) and Grace’s (Karimah Westbrook) 25th high school reunion which brings up a lot of memories and unfinished business. Laura (Monet Mazur) becomes upset when she discovers Jordan (Michael Evans Behling) has found a way around being grounded. Meanwhile, Asher (Cody Christian) turns to Olivia (Samantha Logan) for support when someone from his past wants to see him. Bre-Z and Jalyn Hall also star. |
Episode 5 - Bring the PainAfter Spencer (Daniel Ezra) and Olivia’s (Samantha Logan) efforts to try to get help for Layla (Greta Onieogou) blow up in their faces, Layla pretends that everything is fine by throwing a birthday party for Olivia and Jordan (Michael Evans Behling). With Spencer not in a good place after the news he receives about Corey (Chad Coleman), he is forced to have dinner with the biggest football booster, and it doesn’t go well. Coop (Bre-Z) is ready to start recording the music she wants but Preach (guest star Kareem Grimes) pushes her to try something that isn’t her style. Meanwhile, Jordan finds himself in trouble and turns to his dad for help, leaving Billy (Taye Diggs) to do what’s best for his family even though Laura (Monet Mazur) doesn’t like it. |
Episode 6 - Hard Knock LifeAn exhibition 7-on-7 rematch of the Beverly Eagles vs. South Crenshaw creates tension for all the players, but especially when Darnell (guest star Chad Coleman) proposes a bet that Spencer (Daniel Ezra) can’t refuse. Jordan (Michael Evans Behling) realizes that he needs help and turns to Billy (Taye Diggs) and Laura (Monet Mazur) for support. Olivia (Samantha Logan) and Asher (Cody Christiansen) are trying to figure out what the future for them means. Meanwhile, Coop (Bre-Z) turns to Layla (Greta Onieogou) for help with her song and to get in good with Layla’s dad, but Coop isn’t prepared for what she hears. Karimah Westbrook and Jalyn Hall also star. |
Episode 7 - Coming HomeWith Spencer (Daniel Ezra), Grace (Karimah Westbrook), Dillon (Jalyn Hall) and Darnell (guest star Abraham D. Juste) reeling from the news about why Corey (guest star Chad Coleman) may have left, they set out on a mission to find him. After locating Corey and trying to convince him to go home with them, the weekend turns out to be just what everyone needed. In an effort to keep fighting for the family to be whole again, Billy (Taye Diggs) arranges for the family to meet with a family therapist and possibly help decide on the next step for them. During the session, the therapist gives Jordan (Michael Evans Behling) and Olivia (Samantha Logan) a separate assignment, which helps them learn more about each other than either knew. |
Episode 8 - Life Goes OnWith everything going on Spencer (Daniel Ezra) can’t get excited about his football ranking and gets some guidance from Layla (Greta Onieogou), who in turn realizes it might not be the best advice for anyone, including her. Jordan (Michael Evans Behling) gets some more news he wasn’t expecting, and Laura (Monet Mazur) makes a decision about where she and Billy (Taye Diggs) stand. Meanwhile, Asher (Cody Christian) gets some clarity from his parents on what happened in the last year, which helps Olivia (Samantha Logan) and Asher to figure out their own stuff, too. |
Episode 9 - One of Them NightsDillon (Jalyn Hall) is mad that Spencer (Daniel Ezra) hasn’t been around, so Spencer tries to make it up to him by having him help sell tickets for Coop’s (Bre-Z) show, but they find themselves confronted by the police instead. Elsewhere, Coop is shook when faced with Tyrone (guest star Demetrius Shipp Jr.), but luckily she knows Preach (guest star Kareem J. Grimes) is in her corner. Billy (Taye Diggs) tries to force Jordan (Michael Evans Behling) and Olivia (Samantha Logan) to hang out with him and make memories, but all doesn’t go to plan, giving Olivia an idea on reporting injustices. Meanwhile, Layla (Great Onieogou) bonds with a new friend who understands what she is going through, but she realizes that Spencer and Olivia are there for her, too. Cody Christian, Monet Mazur and Karimah Westbrook also star. |
Episode 10 - Protect Ya NeckWith Tyrone (guest star Demetrius Shipp Jr.) back on the streets, Spencer (Daniel Ezra) is being a little overly protective of Coop (Bre-Z) and Laura (Monet Mazur) and finds himself in uncharted territory. Olivia (Samantha Logan) is nervous about her upcoming SoLA Muse Cotillion and tries to lean on Asher (Cody Christian), but he seems more focused on football than ever. Coop and Patience (guest star Chelsea Tavares) are trying to get back into a rhythm, but things get worse when Coop’s jealous streak comes out. Meanwhile, Jordan (Michael Evans Behling) alerts Billy (Taye Diggs) about what he sees on social media that makes Billy worry a little. Jalyn Hall, Karimah Westbrook and Greta Onieogou also star. |
Episode 11 - CrossroadsWith Spencer (Daniel Ezra) in bad shape, Grace (Karimah Westbrook), Billy (Taye Diggs), Laura (Monet Mazur), Olivia (Samantha Logan) and Layla (Greta Onieogou) rush to his side. Knowing there is a big decision he needs to make, the community from both Crenshaw and Beverly Hills rally around him to show support. In the meantime, Spencer asks Coop (Bre-Z) to do him a favor, but somehow things go from bad to worse. Elsewhere, Jordan (Michael Evans Behling) and his teammates step up to help Billy out while he is tending to other matters. |
Episode 12 - Only Time Will TellBilly (Taye Diggs) and Grace (Karimah Westbrook) are concerned that Spencer (Daniel Ezra) is going to push himself too hard before he is ready, which could make things worse for Spencer in the long run. Determined to secure their football future, Spencer, Darnell (guest star Abraham D. Juste) and Jordan (Michael Evans Behling) decide to go on a college football visit, but Darnell’s chance might be taken away by someone close to him. Asher’s (Cody Christian) teammates and Olivia (Samantha Logan) have been noticing a difference in Asher’s performance and attitude on and off the field, leaving them to wonder why he is pushing himself so hard. Meanwhile, Layla (Greta Onieogou) thinks she knows what she wants to do with her future and needs Coop (Bre-Z) to do it. |
Episode 13 - The Art of Peer PressureSpencer (Daniel Ezra) is ready to get back to football in order to impress recruiters, but he must prove to Billy (Taye Diggs) and Grace (Karimah Westbrook) he is not pushing himself before he is ready. Layla (Greta Onieogou) is excited about her and Coop’s (Bre-Z) music, but Coop is distracted about what is going on in the streets. Olivia (Samantha Logan) struggles in believing Asher (Cody Christian) and turns to Billy for help. Jordan (Michael Evans Behling) does the right thing and steps up in a big way to help a friend. Meanwhile, as the District Attorney’s race is almost over, Laura (Monet Mazur) tries not to get sidetracked by her opponents smear campaign. |

Episode 16 - DecisionsWhen Spencer (Daniel Ezra) hears that South Crenshaw may turn into a magnet school, he and his friends decide to do something about it, but he might have bigger problems to worry about. Billy (Taye Diggs) makes a decision about his future that surprises everyone. Layla (Greta Onieogou) is focused on trying to get Coop (Bre-Z) a tour for the summer but isn’t having much luck, so she comes up with a different strategy that makes everyone happy. Asher (Cody Christian) has an opportunity to spend the summer with his mom but isn’t sure if he should go. Meanwhile, Olivia (Samantha Logan) struggles with what she will do over the summer and Jordan (Michael Evans) makes a Hail Mary in his personal life. Monet Mazur and Karimah Westbrook also star. |
