Season 5 Episode Guide

Episode 1 - Arrival

Clark disappeared into a vortex that brought him to the Fortress of Solitude. Now he is confronted by Jor-El, who tells him he cannot return to Smallville. Also transported to the Fortress, Chloe is unable to handle the subzero temperature and collapses. Meanwhile, Lana is horrified when she sees two Kryptonian aliens emerge from a spaceship in the remnants of the recent second meteor shower.
Episode 2 - Mortal

Jor-El (voiced by TERENCE STAMP) strips Clark of his powers, making him human. Delighted to finally be "normal," Clark pursues a relationship with Lana. However, after Lana, Jonathan and Martha are taken hostage by three thugs, Clark must find a way to save his family without his superpowers.
Episode 3 - Hidden

Chloe is warned by former classmate Gabriel (JOHNNY LEWIS) that he is going to set off a missile and obliterate all of Smallville. Still stripped of his superpowers, Clark confronts Gabriel and is shot. In the hospital, Clark flatlines, and his fate is left in Jor-El's (voiced by TERENCE STAMP) hands. Meanwhile, Lex believes Lionel has the key to open Clark's spaceship.
Episode 4 - Aqua

A beach party takes a dramatic turn when Lois (ERICA DURANCE) hits her head while jumping into the lake. A mysterious swimmer named AC (ALAN RITCHSON) comes to her rescue, out-swimming Clark. Professor Fine (JAMES MARSTERS) tells Clark that Lex is behind a covert weapons manufacturing operation. AC breaks into a LuthorCorp facility to destroy a dangerous experiment and is captured by Lex.
Episode 5 - Thirst

Lana enrolls at Metropolis University at the last minute and must join a sorority to get housing at such a late date. Her new sorority sisters offer her more than a place to live after they turn her into a vampire and instruct her to kill Clark. Meanwhile, Chloe applies for an internship at The Daily Planet, but the formidable editor, Pauline Kahn (CARRIE FISHER), may be more then she can handle.
Episode 6 - Exposed

Jake Jennings (TOM WOPAT), Jonathan's oldest friend, comes to the Kent farm for their support in his campaign for reelection to the Senate. However, after a woman turns up dead, Jennings is the prime suspect. Searching for answers, Chloe convinces Lois (ERICA DURANCE) to go undercover, but things take a dangerous turn when Lois is kidnapped by a diplomat's son who intends to sell her into slavery.
Episode 7 - Splinter

Clark is exposed to silver kryptonite, causing him to have paranoid delusions. The element makes him believe that Chloe is going to reveal his secret; Jonathan is scheming against him with Lionel; and Lex and Lana are having a secret relationship. Chloe and the Kents frantically search for a cure; however, Professor Fine (JAMES MARSTERS) comes to Clark's rescue--but not without his own agenda.
Episode 8 - Solitude

After Martha contracts a strange disease and is given hours to live, Clark asks Professor Fine (JAMES MARSTERS) for help. The professor convinces Clark that Jor-El is responsible for Martha's illness and that the only way to save her is to destroy the Fortress of Solitude. However, once the two arrive at the Fortress, Professor Fine tries to free Zod and kill Clark.
Episode 9 - Lexmas

Lex gets information that could destroy Jonathan's life, but before deciding what to do, Lex is shot and falls into a coma. He dreams his mother shows him the life he could lead if he walks away from his father and LuthorCorp. In this alternate life, Lex is happily married to Lana with a baby on the way. Meanwhile, Chloe asks Clark to use his powers to deliver Christmas presents to needy kids.
Episode 10 - Fanatic

Jonathan gets threats from a mysterious source who urges him to drop out of the senate race. Later, Clark finds his dad bloody and beaten and is determined to find Jonathan's attacker. Lois' (ERICA DURANCE) life is threatened. Lionel offers Martha money to help Jonathan's campaign. Lana is convinced that the answers she is looking for lie in researching the first meteor shower.
Episode 11 - Lockdown

The two police officers who witnessed the spaceship landing during the meteor shower take Lex and Lana hostage and threaten to kill them unless Lex reveals where he hid the spaceship. While escaping to a "panic room" in the mansion, Lex is hit by a bullet meant for Lana. Meanwhile, Clark discovers Lana has been researching the spaceship with Lex and fears she is close to discovering his secret.
Episode 12 - Reckoning

In the landmark 100th episode of the series, Clark reveals his secret to Lana. Jonathan and Lex learn the results of the senatorial election. And after a tragic car accident on the highway takes the life of someone he loves, Clark desperately returns to the Fortress of Solitude and begs Jor-El (voiced by TERENCE STAMP) for help.
Episode 13 - Vengeance

Clark discovers that the new reporter at The Daily Planet, a bespectacled, bumbling woman named Maya (Miss Universe 2001 DENISE QUIÑONES), is actually a masked avenger who fights crime at night. Meanwhile, Clark's bottled-up emotions threaten to get the best of him.
Episode 14 - Tomb

The spirit of a young girl is released after Lois (ERICA DURANCE) finds a corpse in the walls of the Talon. Clark and Lois must follow the trail of the spirit and find her killer, who has been preying on girls in Smallville for the past 10 years. When Lois is suddenly kidnapped, Clark comes to the rescue.
Episode 15 - Cyborg

A sympathetic doctor releases a half-human, half-machine subject named Victor (LEE THOMPSON YOUNG), who was held captive and experimented on by LuthorCorp. While making his escape, Victor is struck by Lana's car and walks away without a scratch, so Lana calls Clark to investigate. Clark promises to help Victor find his girlfriend, but Lex traps Victor and takes him back to LuthorCorp.
Episode 16 - Hypnotic

Upon discovering that Professor Fine (JAMES MARSTERS) is in Honduras, Lex sets out to confront him. Meanwhile, Clark meets a beautiful seductress named Simone (NICHOLE HILTZ) who uses a magical charm to make people succumb to her every wish. When the hypnotized Clark reveals his powers to Simone, she seizes the opportunity and orders Clark to kill Lex.
Episode 17 - Void

Lana experiments with a dangerous serum that allows her to flatline and see her deceased parents again. Clark rushes to save Lana from hurting herself but ends up being injected with the kryptonite-laced serum by an arrogant medical student. When Clark flatlines, he talks to his dead father, who warns him that Lionel knows his secret. Meanwhile, Lionel continues to get closer to Martha.
Episode 18 - Fragile

Clark and Martha take in a little girl, Maddie (EMILY HERST), after her foster mother is brutally stabbed to death. However, after it is discovered that Maddie has the power to shatter glass, she becomes the prime suspect. Meanwhile, Chloe walks in on Lex and Lana during an intimate moment. Series star TOM WELLING makes his directorial debut.
Episode 19 - Mercy

A hooded tormentor takes Lionel hostage and orchestrates a series of elaborate games that Lionel must win in order to stay alive. After Clark tells Martha that Lionel knows his secret, she sets out to confront him--but she inadvertently becomes a pawn in the tormentor's game and ends up fighting for her life.
Episode 20 - Fade

While in Metropolis, Clark saves the life of a stranger who vows to repay him for his kindness. Unfortunately, the man happens to be an assassin with the ability to cloak himself, and he decides that killing Lex would be the best gift he could give Clark. Meanwhile, Clark confronts Lana about her relationship with Lex.
Episode 21 - Oracle

Clark is stunned to see his father's ghost at the graveyard but becomes even more confused when Jonathan tells him to kill Lionel. Meanwhile, after Lex develops a vaccine for Fine's (JAMES MARSTERS) deadly virus, Fine intervenes and injects Lex with the vaccine, causing a shocking reaction.
Episode 22 - Vessel

Fine (JAMES MARSTERS) unleashes a virus that could kill millions of people and refuses to give Clark the vaccine unless he releases the spirit of an imprisoned Kryptonian criminal. Clark turns to Lionel, who once again channels Jor-El (voiced by TERENCE STAMP). Meanwhile, Lex shares a discovery with Lana, who decides to stand by him, unaware of the shocking turn Lex's life is about to take.
