Season 4 Episode Guide

Episode 1 - The Heat Is On

A heat wave tears through Sydney and the staff and patients of All Saints are feeling it. Jodi continually bugs maintenance to have their air conditioner fixed. Terri nurses a burns victim who has chosen to not have treatment. Ben and his new ambulance partner Scott Zinenko are stuck in their ambulance after being surrounded by fire.
Episode 2 - What Katie Did Next

The new NUM, Kate Larsen arrives with her no-nonsense persona and has to try and talk a patient out of committing suicide. Bron nurses a bipolar patient who fakes taking his medication and has explosive outbursts. Luke attends a lunch with a group of former prisoners and is forced to perform surgery on a gunshot victim.
Episode 3 - Happy Birthday

Connor nurses two brothers who are arguing over an incident that has put them both in hospital. Sarah Adams is readmitted to the ward, but on her way home, Ben and Scott are forced to deliver her baby in the back of the ambulance. Jared deals with a difficult group of patients and when a patient takes pills that weren't meant for them.
Episode 4 - Bend Till You Break

Mitch diagnoses a gifted ballerina with scoliosis. She must make a choice between her career and her health, without disappointing her proud mother. Connor surprises Jodi with flowers and finds her reaction not at all what he expected.
Episode 5 - A Matter of Choice

Bron's bookie gives her an ultimatum - $13,000 or 5 vials of pethidine. Mitch and Kate allow the court case, in which Sarah sues her old boss and company for compensation, to take place in the ward and she's awarded $1.6m. Kylie and Luke doctor a patient who Bron accuses of being a drug addict. Scott forgets to eat breakfast and has a day of back-to-back call outs. Kate resorts to alcohol.
Episode 6 - Mixed Messages

Kylie admits a homeless drunk who has a knack for singing. Mitch and Connor try to comfort a suspected rape victim who refuses to let them contact the police, but after she kisses Connor, Von is forced to take over care. After trying terribly hard to organise lunch together, Jodi tells Connor that she's pregnant and that she's having an abortion.
Episode 7 - Defiance & Denial

Mitch is rushed off his feet and is forced to miss Lucy's three-month check-up when Jonathan Healey is admitted to the ward. Connor clashes with Dr Sam Mukherjee over his treatment of a patient and then learns Jodi had the abortion and is leaving. Ben and Scott are called out to a man who got hypnotised and won't snap out of it. Kate begins to resort to drinking on the job.
Episode 8 - Secrets and Lies

Scott and Ben are called out to a suicide to discover the victim has been dead for weeks. Bron nurses a patient who has bladder issues, but Luke learns that she has ambiguous genitalia. Jared begins to annoy the rest of the Ward staff as he rambles on about nursing legalities.
Episode 9 - Changing Places

What ought to be a routine day on Ward 17 is at odds with itself from the very start of the day shift. Kate Larsen is late arriving and, much to his amazement, appoints Connor her second in command for the day. Some time later, though, she seems to have forgotten, and takes Connor to task for presuming to make decisions without consulting her.
Episode 10 - Too Little Too Late

Arriving at the scene of a domestic violence call-out, Scott and Ben discover a teenage girl, Emily, has been stabbed in the neck by (it appears) her boyfriend Jake.
Episode 11 - Night Terrors

In Kate's absence, Connor does a double shift as NUM, running the ward overnight with Bron and Jared. Night duty's a breeze and Connor and Bron play the fool as Jared tries to cram in some extra study.
Episode 12 - Lest We Forget

Terri returns to ward 17 and is amused to find Mitch's new boss is his former intern Malcolm Pussle, who once had a huge crush on her.
Episode 13 - Lost Boys

A home-made bomb in a State Boys' Home sends two patients to Ward 17. Sixteen-year-old KYM is the Home bully, an asocial monster, accused of setting the bomb
Episode 14 - You Do Me Wrong

It's five o'clock in the morning and the ward is alive with the sound of music, courtesy of Mary, an elderly patient suffering from pneumonia.
Episode 15 - All the Sons and Daughters

Ben and Scott are called to attend the attempted suicide of a late teenage/early twenties kid whose angry father (summoned to the scene by a neighbour) seems dead-set on having nothing further to do with his son's self-serving antics.
Episode 16 - To Be or Not to Be

Ben and Bron have spent their first night together, but can Ben put the past behind him? A couple are distraught when the father accidentally knocks down and kills their two-year-old baby. Von and Kylie nurse a man who likes to be treated as a baby.
Episode 17 - Growing Pains

Mitch diagnoses gangrene in an independent homeless lady. When she rejects medical attention, Mitch finds it hard to respect her decision. Bron nurses a young backpacker who has lived with epilepsy for most of his life. After a failed lunch date, Ben finally catches up with Bron. Jared arrives at work to find the medical fund-raising calendar has gone on sale.
Episode 18 - Bed of Roses

Mitch diagnoses gangrene in an independent homeless lady. When she rejects medical attention, Mitch finds it hard to respect her decision. Bron nurses a young backpacker who has lived with epilepsy for most of his life. After a failed lunch date, Ben finally catches up with Bron. Jared arrives at work to find the medical fund-raising calendar has gone on sale.
Episode 19 - Can You Hear Me?

Ben and Scott arrive at a low security prison to find a siege in progress with a guard, a nurse and another inmate held hostage in the prison clinic. A post-op patient lands Connor in trouble with Luke. Terri reveals to Von that she is worried Dr Pussle will want to progress the relationship faster than she can handle.
Episode 20 - Close to Home

Ben and Scott are caught in the middle of a siege when they are called out to a prison. Meanwhile, Luke is angry at what he perceives as a lack of patient care on Connor's part; and Terri confides in Von about her fears for her new relationship.
Episode 21 - Skeletons in the Closet

Father Francis Tyler is admitted in an emaciated state. MITCH diagnoses Beri-beri but suspects the Father to be alcoholic and suffering from the more serious condition of Wernicke's Encephalopathy.
Episode 22 - The Sign

When Von's young buddy, Zac, doesn't show up for their "cigarette" break, she is immediately alarmed. She goes to the paediatrics ward to visit him and finds him in poor spirits.
Episode 23 - Maiden's Revenge

Ben and Scott are attending to an car accident involving a single male. The sole witness is sure he saw a female in the car, but the driver, Robert, is adamant he was alone. In hospital, it's revealed Robert is a well known bookie.
Episode 24 - Chains of Love

Mitch is shattered when he learns that Rose is pregnant. It is no accident. She chose to let this happen without discussing it with him.
Episode 25 - Reality Bites

Mitch finds dealing with the pressures of his own marriage complicated by the unusual reaction of a woman who is wrongly told her husband is dead. A visit from the Minister of Health throws Luke into a nasty situation when an organ donor's secret is discovered.
Episode 26 - Law of the Jungle

Mitch and Pussle's arguments over a patient with hypothermia force their mutual jealousy over Terri out into the open.
Episode 27 - Private Lives

A man's life is thrown into turmoil when he is told he is terminally ill. Based on this information, he makes a life-changing decision, only to be told that there's been a mix-up and he isn't going to die.
Episode 28 - Empty Nest

Two dying patients and a replacement nurse prompt Connor to make the decision of a lifetime. Mitch and Roses' relationship reaches a crisis when Mitch no longer responds to his wife's manipulations.
Episode 29 - Poles Apart

Terri finds another nurse rape victim leading to fears that a serial rapist may be on the loose. And to Von's surprise the battle-axe she's nursing turns out to have the key to soothing the victim's pain.
Episode 30 - Delicate Matters

An ex-priests undergoes a near death experience, and returns to life claiming there is no God.
Episode 31 - Look Into My Eyes

A woman with Parkinson's, who had successfully sued the hospital after her husband suffered brain damage from an anaesthetic, insists on hypnosis instead of a general anaesthetic for an operation on her ankle.
Episode 32 - Wild Justice

It's a relatively quiet morning in the Western Suburbs. Joggers are out, newspapers are being delivered and people are starting to make their way to work and school.
Episode 33 - Life as We Know It

Ma O'Connell discovers she has terminal cancer and makes Luke an offer that's almost too good to refuse. Jared and Connor fall out on Connor's last day at the hospital. Bron nurses a patient who is convinced he's part of an alien plan to take over the human race.
Episode 34 - Simpatico

With a month left of probation, Scott's day begins with a disciplinary interview conducted by Scott's 'educator'. This turns out to be Rebecca, who partnered with him in BEN's absence.
Episode 35 - Critical Pressure

Tensions reach a critical point as Mitch goes in search of his wife and daughter. Terri tries to help a seriously ill grandmother make contact with her only grandchild. Scott realises just how badly the events of the last few weeks have affected him.
Episode 36 - Bitter Medicine

On her first day back at work after her reunion with Mitch, Rose's conduct alienates both Von and Terri.
Episode 37 - Heartache

Mitch and Luke fight to save the life of a bride caught in a car smash on the way to her wedding. Just when it seems all is lost, she starts to make a miraculous recovery which neither of the doctors can explain.
Episode 38 - Where There's Smoke

Terri decides it's time to finally move on from her attachment to Mitch, after refusing Dominic's advances, she seeks out another old boyfriend...Malcolm.
Episode 39 - Child's Play

Jared and Terri are confronted with the tragic results of an initiation taken to an horrifically cruel degree.After a frightening night of Rose's behaviour, a confused and extremely worried Mitch deals with a stressed patient who finds it difficult to compromise.
Episode 40 - Behind Closed Doors

Von is nursing a terminal patient, a cross-dresser who wants to go out in style. While Bron is feeling wired and powerful after her victory over the rapist, Ben is determined to find and destroy him.
Episode 41 - A Little Death

Ward 17 finds itself threatened with becoming a quarantined ward for golden staph patients while attacks by the mystery rapist leave one young nurse dead and Bron in mortal danger.
Episode 42 - The Other Side of Perfection

Mitch treats an unconscious pregnant woman with a mysterious illness that's endangering her life, and that of her unborn child.
Episode 43 - Falling Down

Mitch's marriage approaches a final crisis and when he is stranded, unable to reach Rose, Terri makes the decision to go to his home. She is shocked by what she finds.
