Episode 1 - Started Early, Took My DogJackson is back in Edinburgh after an extended visit to see his daughter, Marlee, in New Zealand and meets Hope, a woman searching for her birth parents. Jackson's search takes him to the dark heart of 1979 police corruption and murder and a secret that has remained buried for almost 35 years. Motivated by his desire to help those in need and his own need to atone for his recent mistake, Jackson's investigation sees the past and the present collide dramatically with the old retired cops refusing to go down without the fight of their lives.

Episode 2 - Nobody's DarlingWhen new client Rachel asks Jackson to find out whether her fiance may be cheating, Jackson gets more than he bargained for and soon finds he is investigating a cold case murder. The drama around Isobel's death 5 years earlier is still playing out in the present day through the lives of those she left behind who between them create an image of Isobel which is as implausible as it is perfect. To find out what happened Jackson must confront some difficult truths about the destructive nature of love and the extraordinary lengths people go to in order to protect what's theirs.

Episode 3 - Jackson and the WomanA teenage boy has grown up in the shadow of the murder of his mother when he was three years old. But a deathbed confession from the man accused of killing her causes Aiden to doubt the circumstances surrounding the death and he enlists Jackson's help in the hope of finding the truth. The search reveals that his mother wasn't quite who he thought she was. When Jackson is called to help Minyawi's desperate daughter, his actions see him cross a line which jeopardizes his future.
